GET2WORK makes it easy to schedule your free, work-related trips within the Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater greater urban areas with Intercity Transit’s Village Vans program. Village Vans is for low-income individuals experiencing transportation barriers to gain and maintain employment. GET2WORK is a convenient way for users to schedule rides to new or ongoing work support, training programs, and education. Village vans is intended to be a transitional program leading to employment. Passenger certification lasts for one year but can be extended on a case-by-case basis. Call 360-705-5840 to see if your transportation needs qualify.

How do I use GET2WORK?
Users can download the GET2WORK app or call our 24-hour message line at 360-705-5840 to request a ride.

How do I get started?
Start by downloading the GET2WORK app, then logging in to your GET2WORK account. Confirm your location and input your destination. Then, book your ride.

Who drives the vans?
Our drivers are trained and certified; some are participants of the Village Vans Jobs Skills Program. We recruit drivers from employment programs at WorkSource, local colleges and universities, and the community. Participants of the Job Skills program receive professional driver training, valuable work experience, continual skill development and job search coaching while working toward permanent employment.

How much will it cost?
Village Vans is provided free of charge by Intercity Transit.

When can I request a ride?
Service is dependent on driver availability; requesting a ride does not guarantee a ride. You can request your free ride up to 30 days in advance. Need a last-minute ride? Give us a call at 360-705-5840 and we will try to fit you in.

What else is helpful to know?
Daycare stops to and from work are included. To fit the provided car seats for children younger than 12 years old, we need to know the age, (estimated) height and weight of each child riding with the passenger. A certified car seat technician must meet with the family before their first ride to properly fit the car seats, which are preinstalled in the van. If you are calling in your ride request, please provide this information when you call.

Why does Intercity Transit provide this service?
Transportation is a primary barrier for low-income people in their search for economic independence. Many have gained and maintained employment while using or driving for Village Vans. The program is funded by federal and state grants and operates in partnership with local social and public service agencies.
